pura vida!

12:06am. Eco House Rainforest Terrace. Howler Monkey’s singing. Im Blogging.

this term “pura vida”. it has many a translation. contextually, it means “Full of Life” “Purified life”, “This is living!”, “Going great!”  etc… some view it as an expression of a leisurely lifestyle or to express a philosophy of strong community, perseverance, good spirits, enjoying life slowly, celebrating good fortune, whether small or large. at the present moment all of the above will suffice.

I’m here in San Juan Del Sur with one of my best friends and a few other great people looking for the perfect getaway property and being pampered simultaneously. this is the first time i have been able to come to nica to simply enjoy and indulge in the beauties of this place and this culture. explorations, beautiful beach life, beautiful people, transforming into cowboy dave on the rain-forest ranches, 4 wheeling, monkey watching, fresh food, no phones…. this list stop’s only because of the late hour, this is amazing. God is good.

to be honest, I never seem to quite express experiences like this in their true magnitude. and silly i-phone photo’s and blogs certainly don’t quite sum it up! detaching oneself from the comforts of home and immersing into the cultures and beauties this world. especially the 3rd and 2nd “worlds”. the people, the feelings, the joys, ah! it just makes me so happy. I have come to the conclusion that it’s impossible to explain, you just have to do it for yourself to understand. just pack and go.

Still to come:

-Nicaraguan Independence day, which means huge local celebrations, horse shows, dancing and festivities!

-Taking Clint to the local casinos to tear up some poker.

—-> best of all. Surprising all the kids at casa betesda orphanage with this rad unscheduled visit.

3 more days to Nicaragua #4

Im headed back to Nicaragua in 3 days with Mr. Clint Stelfox. This time around it is more of a pleasure trip rather than for the kids. A few days on the crystal clear pacific coast should clear one’s mind.

In celebration Iv’e posted some old photo’s and a video from last December/Jan.

                                                                                                                                                                :me and my traveling hermana:

15 days and a mixed bag of feelings.

india is getting to me. getting to me in the best and worst ways. i’m recovering from what was the worst sickness my sturdy body has ever known. with travel to a plethora of 3rd world countries (and 2nd, respectively) , never ever has my body yearned for good health. the doctors here tell me that if i were in the states i would have been hospitalized for severe hydration. still i go on filming, like the soldier i am.

aside from health issues, i have no quarrel with Delhi. the shopping in the markets is crucial. the footage looks great. iv’e gained great new friends, learned many a new thing, and fallen in love with the tiny beggar children on my block. they see me coming and their faces light up, as I suppose I have been their greatest source of fresh hot food for the last 2 weeks.

i traveled to Jaipur days after terrorist bombings, where i laid eyes on some of the most beautiful dry earth scenery’s, and spent time with rescued child laborers. hearing these young ones stories shed light to the fact that this world is full of evil evil people. human trafficking, physical, and sexual exploitation of women and children is far too prevalent in some part’s of the world, including ours! when you see the tears from these children’s eye’s, listen to their stories, you can’t help but long for change. these people: http://www.actionaidindia.org/what_we_do.htm, are literally conducting raids, pulling children off of the streets and into a means of education and wellness. something to think about?

3 days into India.

love it. love it. im 3 days into my journey through india. im filming and directing the still yet to be titled documentary of the lives, culture, and relationships of maimed beggars, and their beggar masters.

arrived to smiles and flowers.

the people look at me like im a celebrity. i always considered myself a “brownie” but here im just another “white-skin”.

my crew is great. i look pretty cool walking around with my 5 person crew including my very own security detail. :)

the colors here are beautiful on film. the sights and people are unlike anywhere else i have traveled. truely a unique place. im in love with how all of the footage looks. as well i am in love with the first group of “beggars” that i have had the privelage of filming, meeting, and learning from.

:some screen shots from my first 10 minutes of day 1 filming. instant beauty:

FLY fly flyyy international!

menu“Ill take the red wine w/chicken please, sure coffee and desert would be just fine”.

International flights are generally long, tiring, uncomfortable maybe? At least those are the grievances that I normally hear pass from others lips. On the other hand there is me whom happens to Love international flights.  At this point I have easily boarded the passageway of over 100 flights,  so inherently the entire flying process has become normalized.

“Hello, welcome aboard British Airways. To the front of the aircraft one beautiful half british, half Indian flight attendant for your viewing pleasure. Oh wait, and one more beautiful attendant in the rear for additional viewing pleasure. “  I believe the screening process for hiring atforeign airlines includes meeting a “beautiful late-twenty-something, with killer accent“ quota.

seatback

Currently Im on my way to India, via a quick stop in London. 22 hours to self reflect, imagine, wonder, work, write, read, conceptualize…. and in this moment all  I can come up with is “Dang! 27 Dresses was Blazed.” Not really, but did I just get into that movie way more than I should have?

The food. THE FOOD.. International flights, food and drink are plentiful. Of course it all varies from carrier to carrier, but  2 great meals, a snack, free alcohol, and coffee are standard. Destination and carrier origin will define the style of what is offered. Currently… red wine, nap, more red-wine, type, baileys, read, sleep, breakfast.

Welcome to Heathrow, where I now have a cool accent! Do I?

GOODBYE LONDON. HELLO INDIA.
